Brittany Murphy was born on November 10, 1977 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. She was raised only by her mother in Atlanta because her parents divorced when Brittany was still very young. Even at a very small age Brittany use to put up shows and at the age of nine she started acting in regional theatre production. Work in various commercials followed, and in 1990 she landed her first television role, on the sitcom Blossom. She then went on to a lead on the short-lived sitcom Drexell's Class in 1991, and the following year she made her film debut in the dysfunctional family drama Family Prayers.
